"The Sounds of the Wind" arrive at the El Pasico Windmill with the Musical Union of Torre Pacheco (27/06/2018)

The Mayor of Torre Pacheco, Antonio León, accompanied by the President of the Association of the Mills, Manuel Mateo, the President of the Musical Union of Torre Pacheco Mª José Garcerán, and its director, Antonio García presented this novel and original concert, which will be held for the second year in a row, on July 4, in an environment that is part of the tradition and culture of our municipality such as Los Molinos and El Pasico, a reference for the residents of the municipality, as pointed out by the Mayor, informing of the request of El Paraje de El Pasico, as an Asset of Cultural Interest, in the last Municipal Plenary.

During the ceremony were also present the Councilor for Culture, Raúl Lledó, the ediles de Turismo, Rosalía Rosique and Citizen Security, Juan Salvador Sánchez, as well as directors of the Musical Union of Torre Pacheco and members of the Torre Windmills Association Pacheco

For his part, Antonio García was in charge of advancing what will be the musical performance, a program in which the common thread is the wind, emphasizing that the wind is something that unites the band and the mill, since it is the one that makes the musical instruments work and is the one that moves the blades of the mills.

Likewise, he pointed out that for this second edition of the summer concert "The Sounds of the Wind", the UMTP proposes a walk through the Mediterranean, "Our Sea", as the Romans called it during the height of its empire.

A sea that, far from separating, has served as a link between very distant peoples, making us have in common a large number of elements, whether historical, cultural, natural, and even the character of its people.

Clear proof of this are our WINDMILLS, which, like those existing along the entire Mediterranean shore, are characterized by using as means of propulsion the same device that have been used for centuries by ships that have crossed the waters of this sea : the Latin sail, hence this typology receives the name of Mediterranean mill, differentiating it from the continental mill moved by four blades.

The Musical Union of Torre Pacheco invites us to an imaginary trip that will start at the foot of the El Pasico Windmill with a composer of our land, D. Manuel Massoti, and his pasodoble Coplas Murcianas, with which we will arrive to the neighboring lands of Alicante. the hand of the Castellón composer Vicente Ortiz Gimeno and his work dedicated to the Oriolan poet Miguel Hernández, of whom Neruda said that remembering him is for Spain "A duty of love".

Next, the Valencian composer Teo Aparicio Barberán will take us to other farther shores, those of ancient Greece, with his work "States of the Mind" based on "The Rhetoric" by Aristotle.

With another Valencian, Ferrer Ferrán, and his "David and Goliath" we will reach the other end of the Mediterranean, to Palestine, the Biblical Promised Land, and we will be able to listen to the Israelite and Philistine armies facing each other until the young David, thanks to his wit and skill, kill the giant Goliath.

The same author will bring us back to scale, with "El Bolero de Carmelo", in the native Sicily of his friend Carmelo Dovara, Italian musician who dedicated this cheerful piece inspired by the famous Ravel Bolero.

The music of four Spanish composers, born on the shores of the Mediterranean, with the spectacular Molino del Pasico as a backdrop and the magical setting of El Pasico invite us to enjoy a different night.

The mill, which will be put into operation, can be visited before and after the concert.

The visits will be guided and free, and to arrange them it will only be necessary to contact the Torre Pacheco Tourist Office or through the website of Murcia Turística.

The Mayor of Torre Pacheco, said that this initiative adds to the varied program of cultural, sports and leisure activities that take place this summer in the municipality, inviting neighbors and visitors to enjoy next Wednesday, July 4, "Los Sounds of the Wind, Aires del Mediterráneo ", in an exceptional place such as El Pasico and its Mill.
