Torre Pacheco City Council has joined the international movement of "Red Shoes, Against Gender Violence", movement inspired by the famous exhibition promoted by the Mexican artist Elina Chauvet.

Making an exhibition installation, in the Plaza Mayor Pedro Jiménez, "we wanted to create a visual impact, where not only are victims of gender violence those who end up tragically killed, but every woman who is beaten, humiliated and controlled by a man", the Councilor for Equality has pointed out.

Verónica Martínez, thanked the neighbors for their involvement, pointing out that "more than 70 pairs of shoes have been collected, which have passed under the paint cans of the students of the Basic Automotive EFP of the IES Gerardo Molina", giving Thanks also to the teachers involved and to the students who "while painting shoe after shoe have managed to become aware of this harsh reality, creating a testimonial garment of a woman murdered and mistreated by a man".

With the exhibition "Red Shoes against Gender Violence", through public art, justice is requested in a particular way, for all victims and their families, and real equality between men and women is demanded.

Actions to raise awareness and further progress in equality in our town, is the goal with which we work from the Department of Equality during the 365 days of the year, said Martinez.

Finally, the manifesto "25 November, International Day against Gender Violence" was read by Carlos López, spokesman for the government team.

November 25 is not just a day for reflection, it is also a day for action.

With this manifesto, the City Council of Torre Pacheco joins all the voices that, from any point of the planet, condemn all types of violence against women, demanding a firm and clear commitment from the whole society to join our forces against this scourge Social.
