The Cifea of Torre Pacheco becomes a reference center for agricultural and livestock training and advice in the Mar Menor environment (25/02/2020)

Antonio Luengo chairs the Inter-Administrative Coordination Forum of the Mar Menor and requires the State Coasts Demarcation to "remove the sludge and sludge from the beaches most affected by the storms, and authorize the installation of spas in Los Urrutias"

The Integrated Training and Agricultural Experiences Center (Cifea) of Torre Pacheco will become the reference center for training and advice for the agricultural and livestock sectors in the Mar Menor environment.

This was announced this morning by the Minister of Water, Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Environment of the Region of Murcia, Antonio Luengo.

The counselor explained, after presiding over the meeting of the Inter-Administrative Coordination Forum of the Mar Menor which was also attended by the Minister of Tourism, Youth and Sports, Cristina Sánchez, that "there are many projects that the Community has initiated to revert to recovery of the Mar Menor and to advance in the awareness that we all must have to improve their state. And that is why we will take advantage of the experience and knowledge of the professionals of the Cifea of Torre Pacheco so that it reverts directly in the improvement of the ecosystem ".

"In this way, professionals from these sectors of the Cartagena Field will be trained, to influence measures that contribute to reducing the pressures suffered by the ecosystem or even to develop the figure of the 'Agro-Environmental Operator' included in the Decree Law on Integral Protection of the Mar Menor and that must guarantee compliance with the norm in all the farms, "explained Luengo.

Demand for the Demarcation of State Costs

During his appearance before the media, Antonio Luengo recalled that "the Inter-Administrative Coordination Forum aims to put on the table the actions that we each have to carry out, because we are competent, and coordinate those actions that need collaboration from everybody".

For this reason, Luengo remarked that "the State Coastal Demarcation has to undertake the work of sludge and dry removal from the beaches most affected by the meteorological storms suffered since last September in the surroundings of the Mar Menor. They must start those jobs now if we don't want to see how the mud continues to proliferate on the banks, with the consequences that entails. "

In addition, he demanded that the State Coast Demarcation "authorize the installation of Los Urrutias spas, something that we have been waiting for weeks, and that can not be delayed any longer because, otherwise, the spas we already have planned be installed before the bath time and it will be for the blockade of the Ministry to this action ".
