"Between four corners: traces of a town", a documentary and photographic exhibition, which shows us the life of the Town Hall square in these 150 years, stands out in a wide program of activities.
The Mayor of Torre-Pacheco, Antonio León, was in charge of commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, coinciding with the "Day of the Municipality".
Members of the Municipal Corporation, as well as civil and military authorities, and of course neighbors attended this emotional act, set by the Cultural Association Los Modernistas de Cartagena de Levante.
In his speech, the Mayor recalled that, on September 17, 1836, the Villa de Torre-Pacheco constituted its own City Council by segregation of the council of Murcia, definitively, and would have to go up to 30 years later for the City Council of Torre-Pacheco had this building destined to Consistorial House, being the reference of the place that was constructed opposite, the Town hall square;
and that has passed through several names, until the Municipal Plenum agreed in 1997, which will be called as it has always been called and has been known, the Town Hall Square.
Leon, invited to participate in the activities organized by the City Council, which began yesterday, and which end on December 21, with a ceremony of installation of a time capsule, which will open 50 years later, coinciding with the 200th anniversary of the Town Hall Square.
