The Federation of Agricultural Cooperatives of the Region (Fecoam), supports the implementation of desalination plants on the initiative of the irrigators themselves, as well as the research and development of technologies and systems of dislocation and purification that ensure the water needed by farmers to the next campaigns.
In this sense, Fecoam attended last Wednesday in Torre Pacheco a meeting in which about 600 farmers, irrigators and producers gathered to promote several projects of construction of desalination plants, with the aim of "ensuring at least in part the water resources necessary for irrigation before the pressing drought that affects the Murcian countryside, "they explain from the federation.
Thus, organizations and entrepreneurs from the areas of Murcia, Alicante and Almeria, together with the Central Union of Irrigators of the Tajo Segura Aqueduct (Scrats), showed their unity in this alternative and qualified the option of desalination as one of the ways of the future for irrigation in the countryside of the Region.
Fecoam is committed in this way to initiatives and alternative lines of work to existing measures by public administrations, collaborating with different projects such as the research carried out at the Tomás Ferro Farm of the UPCT.
