Most children learn to eat breakfast in a balanced way to prevent childhood obesity and diabetes (10/12/2010)

The Department of Health, aware that many children go to school without breakfast (6.2% of children) or do so incorrectly, organized during the months of November and December a conference in a local primary school, in which healthy breakfasts offered to children in primary 1, and their parents to achieve optimal physical and intellectual performance in their daily work, and to prevent childhood obesity and diabetes.

Only 7.5% of children take a balanced breakfast consisting of milk, fruit or juice and carbohydrates.

The family should try to organize their time for the school to enjoy a good breakfast.

Objective

6.2% of children and young people usually skip breakfast and only 7.5% of children take a balanced breakfast consisting of milk, fruit or juice and carbohydrates, according to the Ministry of Health.

A healthy proposal to prevent childhood obesity

Eat everything.

A varied and balanced diet is a healthy diet.

Always eat breakfast and as completely as possible.

Grains (bread, pasta, rice ...), potatoes and beans are staple foods need to be part of our daily diet.

Moderate consumption of fats, especially animal.

Take every day fruits and vegetables.

Moderate consumption of foods rich in sugar such as candy, sweets and soft drinks.

Reducing salt in foods and use preferably iodized salt.

Do exercise daily.

Walk whenever possible.

Involve all family members on various aspects related to food: to compare, choose the menu and cooking.
