It is a tribute to Don Pedro Antonio Jimenez Lopez, parish priest of Torre-Pacheco until 2008.
Yesterday morning occurred the act of naming the plaza behind the parish church and bell tower next to the name "Pastor Don Pedro Square" as a special gesture of appreciation and gratitude to the priest, for his extensive work as a priest, solidarity, human and citizen with the municipality of Torre Pacheco, their families and neighbors.
Don Pedro was grateful for the recognition and dedicated it to all his faithful pachequeros.
The Mayor of Torre Pacheco, Daniel García Madrid, Don Pedro thanked all he has done for the city and showed his pride as mayor and as pachequero be able to do acts like this in honor and in memory of people who have forged this town.
On October 24, 2008 the City Council plenary adopted, among other things, the joint motion of the political groups on the name of a place dedicated to Don Pedro Antonio Jimenez Lopez, parish priest of Torre Pacheco.

Pedro Antonio Jimenez Lopez was born on April 10, 1937 in Jumilla, was ordained priest on June 12, 1966 and said his first Mass in his hometown, on June 29 of that same year, the feast of St. Pedro.
The first stage was designed to Torre-Pacheco between the years 1970-1980, during this decade began its work deep in Torre-Pacheco, with a friendly and affectionate with all neighbors and parishioners total dedication to the parish that he combined with Teachers work as a professor of religion classes in high school.
In 1972 he was a pioneer in this town meeting in groups of families and thus were born community groups in the church.
Subsequently, in early 1980 as a priest was sent to Alhama de Murcia.
Later, in 1997, he intended to Torre-Pacheco, where he has continued to exert their good priest, coordinating tasks with his coadjutors and associates, neighbors and collective basis, visiting patients and families, promoting catechesis groups and Caritas parish and attending meetings on behalf of our community, all of which has been able to get a simple and direct way to those who have heard.
In their social activities Don Pedro has known to be a family member between Torre-Pacheco and a true friend to all, and in his parish work has always been an important and essential in all solemn religious ceremonies, with special relevance celebrations in honor of our Patroness.
In addition, Don Pedro wanted to be involved in all matters related to the development of the municipality and the local community, bringing their desires to the wishes and dreams of pachequeros, so it has worked, in conjunction with the City and the other institutions, businesses and residents, the project of creation and construction of the church bell tower, reminiscent of the old was demolished years ago but remained standing in the collective memory of our neighbors.
In September 2008, Don Pedro was assigned to the Church of Santiago in Jumilla after 21 years of living in Torre-Pacheco.
