Two years ago, a group of practitioners of taekwondo and sciences, all parents of athletes Koryo Taekwondo Club Torre-Pacheco, under the guidance of national coach, Rafael Alcázar Corona, bet on a draft compatibility studies and sport (taekwondo) in order to make their athletes from entering the universities selected under the protection of the law 10/1990, of October 15, the Sport and the Organic Law 2/2006, of 3 May and Royal Decree 971/2007, of 13 July, on top athletes and high performance.
This legislation makes it possible to reserve 3% seats in any race and any University Athletes aimed at proving as High Performance or High Level, as well as the assessment of high-level athlete status or performance (groups a, b and c) as assessable merit test basis, access to the Security Forces of the State.
The result can be more satisfying, on May 18, in the championship of Spain University Taekwondo, held at the premises of the High Performance Center "Infanta Cristina" del Mar Menor, this project bore fruit as the 4 athletes of this small club that once benefited from this project, and are now university got the podium with the following medals:
- Ricardo Calvo Redondo, bronze medal in the category of less than 68 kg.
- Lorena Sanchez Solana, silver medal in the category of less than 73 kg.
- J.
Athanasius Egea Well, bronze medal in the category of less than 74 kg.
- Cristian Soriano Carrion silver medal in the category of less than 58 kg.
Currently, four athletes have benefited from this program and are expected to follow in the footsteps of the four current college medalists.
