Agriculture emits grant the application of the Protected Geographical Indication 'melon-Murcia Torre Pacheco' decision (28/12/2013)

The melon-Torre Pacheco Murcia is characterized by its sweetness, juiciness and flavor and a tougher pulp, which allows, once harvested, keep these qualities for longer.

Melon is one of four major production crops in the region, behind lettuce, lemon and tomato.

The regional surface exceeds 6,000 hectares, of which 1,700 belong to the municipality of Torre Pacheco, which is where most of the crop is located.
