The new Transport Centre Balsicas improves the competitiveness of agro-horticultural industries in the Region (12/02/2010)

This action helps to improve the logistics service sector enterprises, reduce transportation costs, reduce urban traffic and increase security of carriers

The director general of Transport and Ports, Carmen Sandoval, accompanied by the Mayor of Torre Pacheco, Daniel García Madrid, today inaugurated the new Centre for Transport for goods vehicles located in the industrial area of Balsicas, in the municipality of Torre Pacheco, which contributes to improving the competitiveness of agro-horticultural industries in the region.

Its construction was carried out in two phases and has a parking facility consisting of 63 parking spaces, a control building and a bridge wash goods vehicles.

This new infrastructure, with an area of 17,120 meters squared, is protected by a CCTV security system which controls both access to the facilities and the parking area.

Carmen Sandoval said that through this action "is helping to increase the competitiveness of our businesses and improving its logistics services, as these facilities, located in a strategic point of communication, thus improving the operation of goods vehicles in so that reducing transport costs, reduce urban traffic and increase safety professionals. The new infrastructure is located in a strategic location as located in the Balsicas Industrial Estate, near the Mar Menor motorway connects the east with Zeneta-San Javier motorway and west through the RM -F12 (Roldan to Fuente Alamo) with the A-30 (Albacete, Cartagena), which represents "a unique position to benefit businesses, especially horticultural and agri-food sector to develop greater activity in this area, "said Sandoval.

The work has involved an investment of 513,115 euros, of which the Ministry of Public Works and Planning, through the Directorate General for Transport and Ports, has funded 75 percent, 384,836 euros.

For its part, the City of Torre Pacheco has provided the remaining 25 percent.
