On the morning of Saturday, June 2, the Plenary Session of the Municipal Council for Children and Adolescents was held in the Plenary Hall of the City Council.
The event was chaired by José Martínez Martínez, 6th grade student at the Garre Alpáñez de Balsicas school.
Participating in this session were 19 of the 25 members of the Council, which are twelve children and sixteen girls between 10 and 15 years of age, all of them chosen by their own classmates between the last two years of Primary Education and the first two years of Secondary Education .
The Mayor of Torre Pacheco, Antonio León Garre, attended the Plenary, accompanied by several members of the Corporation as well as by the mayors of Balsicas and San Cayetano.
During the session, the work carried out by the Commission created to participate in the drafting of the II Comprehensive Plan for Children and Adolescents of Torre Pacheco (2018-2021) was reported, providing improvement proposals in various areas of the Plan, such as Sports, Security Citizen or Social Services and Equality.
During the plenary, the responses to the petitions and proposals made by the Council in the plenary session on March 3, addressed to the Department of Sports, were read.

The central theme of the Council was the reading and approval of a series of proposals, prepared by the students of the Educational Centers, around the Environment in Torre Pacheco:
First: "Planting and maintenance of trees in schools";
Second: "Containers for recycling";
Third: "Organization of environmental awareness activities";
Fourth: "Reduction of contamination by vehicles";
Fifth: "Eradication of poaching";
Sixth: "Replacement of plastic bags";
Seventh: "Cleaning of lots and roads";
Eighth: "Promotion of the use of organic fertilizer";
Novena: "Torre Pacheco Verde Initiative";
Tenth: "Bioclimatic schools".
Finally, the Councilors chose Culture and leisure as a topic to be addressed by children in the Educational Centers during the first trimester of the 2018-2019 academic year.
Once the problems and proposals for improvement in this matter have been debated and agreed upon in each Center, the main proposals will be presented and voted on at the next Council Plenary.
After the session, the members of the Municipal Corporation presented a gift to each of the Directors in recognition of their commitment and participation in the Council.
