The Mayor of Torre Pacheco, Antonio León accompanied by the councilor of Sports Raul Lledó, and members of the Municipal Corporation received the High Performance Athletes of the municipality of Torre Pacheco, who have been awarded a subsidy by the City Council.
An act to put in value the great work and dedication that these young athletes perform.
An act of gratitude and tribute to the High Performance Athletes, as pointed out by the Mayor in his speech, highlighting that they are young people who have left the Associations and Clubs of the municipality, noting that the City has always opted for Sports Base, valuing the work of athletes, clubs, associations, relatives, companies, sponsors as well as the large number of quality sports facilities that the municipality has.
Lledó was in charge of opening an event in which the work of the athletes named Torre Pacheco was acknowledged both in Spain and abroad.
In addition, he acknowledged the effort of the consistory to promote and encourage grassroots sport, which joins the work of athletes, clubs, coaches, associations, sponsors and families that are the pillars and that the City wants to put in value, with events of this type.
The recognized sportsmen, and that are the pride of the neighbors of the municipality, are in the modality of Taekwondo, Gemma Sardina Alvarez, Joaquín Albaldejo Cegarra, and Ángel José Conesa Guillén, in the modality of aeromodelling, Nicolas and Beatriz Yepes Sánchez, Raquel Olmos Ros in the modality of Golf, in Boxing Jesús Miguel Sánchez García, in the Triathlon mode, Antonio Luís Alcaraz Vicente, in the Tennis mode, Enrique Siscar Mesegure and Gloria Rodriguez Sánchez, in the Cycling mode.
These sportsmen have received a subsidy from the City Council, referring to their achievements during the years 2016 - 2017, and which amounts in its entirety to the amount of 20,000 euros.
An act in which the technicians of the Department of Sports were responsible for relating the sporting achievements of the honorees, which are detailed below.
Gemma Sardina, represents the Koryo Torre Pacheco Club.
In 2016, she participated in the Spanish Club Championship, becoming the Spanish Champion in the Senior category.
In 2017, he repeated at the Spanish Club Championship, finishing 3rd in the Senior category.
Joaquín Albaladejo, represents the Koryo Club Torre Pacheco, participated in the year 2017, in the Championship of Spain of Clubs, being ranked 3rd in junior category, and in the Open of Serbia, was ranked 5th in junior category, out of a total of 35 countries
Jesús Miguel Sánchez, represents the Koryo Torre Pacheco Club in Boxing mode, he participated in 2016 in the Spanish Championship of Olympic Boxing, being in 3rd place in the Elite category.
Enrique Siscar, represents the Tennis Club in sports modality in Torre Pacheco Tennis, in 2016 he participated in the XI City of Albacete Trophy, being champion of Spain singles and doubles in senior category, and the same year in the ITF Lleida, was Champion of Spain individual in senior category.
In the year 2017, he participated in the Spanish Championship in Miranda del Duero, becoming the Spanish Champion in the doubles category, in the senior category.
And the same year at the ITF La Rioja, he was Champion of Spain in the senior singles and doubles category.
Ángel José Conesa, represents the Koryo Torre Pacheco Club, in Taekwondo modality.
In 2017 he participated in the Spanish Championship SUB-21, in Alicante, being runner-up in Spain, and in the Junior Spanish Championship, he was Champion of Spain.
In the Serbian Open in the Junior category, he finished 3rd and in the European Championship, in the Junior category, he finished 8th.
Finally, in the Championship of Spain for Clubs, in Castellón, it was 2nd classified in senior category.
Gloria Rodriguez, represents the Movistar Women Team Club, in cycling mode.
In 2016, he participated in the World Championship, finishing 10th in the standings, in the individual pursuit category in the absolute category.
In the European Championship, in Paris, he was ranked 10th in the standings, individual pursuit, absolute category.
In Mallorca, she was Champion of Spain in individual pursuit, 2nd in teams, 2nd in scoring and 4th in Scratch, absolute category.
In Alicante it was 2nd in Against Individual Clock and 4th in Route, Absolute Category.
With the Spanish Cycling Team, he participated in the Women's Tour of San Luis, Argentina.
Being in the 84th position of the general.
In the year 2017, participated in the World Championship, in Hong Kong, being in a position 19 of the classification in modality, individual pursuit, absolute category;
in Mallorca, he participated in the Spanish Championship, finishing 4th in Persecution, and 5th in Madison.

With the Spanish Cycling Team, he participated in Los Angeles, Individual category Absolute Persecution, remaining in 12th position.
Raquel Olmos, represents the Torre Pacheco Golf Club, in Golf.
In 2016, he participated in the European Championship, in Norway, finishing third in the classification, Sub 18 category. In the Spanish Championship in San Sebastian, he was 2nd in the U18 category, and in the Anika International Tournament of Sweden, with the Spanish Golf Selection, was in 7th position.
In the British of Wales was 9th in the qualifying phase.
In 2017, she participated in the European Women's U18 Championship for teams in Finland, finishing in 6th place, also participating in women's singles.
With the Spanish National Golf Team he participated in the International Women's Stroke Play Tournament held in Valencia and obtained a 5th place.
He also participated in the International Tournament of Portugal.
Nicolás Yepes, represents the Club Los Halcones de la Rambla, Aeromodelismo.
In 2016, he participated in the European Championship in France, finishing 11th in the senior category.
In 2017, he participated in the European Championship in the Czech Republic, ranking 16th in the senior category.
In addition, he participated in the Spanish Championship in Granada, obtaining the title of Champion of Spain in Absolute Category.
Beatriz Yepes, represents the Club Los Halcones de la Rambla, in Aeromodelismo mode, participated in the European Championship, in France being in a position 30, in senior category.
In 2017, he participated in the European Championship in the Czech Republic, ranking 9th in the senior category.
In addition, participated in the Championship of Spain held in Granada, getting the title of Subchampion of Spain, in absolute category.
The athletes thanked the collaboration and help that the City offers them, appreciating the great work of the Department of Sports, to encourage sports, and offer the resources and facilities necessary for training, as well as the willingness and collaboration in everything that it is demanded.
