The project "Vacations in Peace", aims to give Saharawi children the possibility of substantially improving their health, through the improvement of diet and medical check-ups, the possibility of having another image of the world, different from those that contribute their daily reality in the desert and, in general, cover the main shortcomings of these minors, living a few months away from the harsh conditions of the camps.
The president of the Association of Friends of the Saharawi People of the Mar Menor, Rocío Ardil, thanked the City Council for the collaboration with the Saharawi people, as well as the collaborating companies of the municipality such as Oxford Optics, and Dental Clinic Plaza de la Iglesia de Torre Pacheco, They contribute free of charge with the medical check-ups of the children, and Caramelos Cerdán, who visits them through the facilities, being one of the most fun activities for children.
Through this project, we also seek awareness of the residents of Torre Pacheco in the face of this social reality, and of course, the creation of affective bonds between the two families.
The ages of the children range from 9 to 12 years, and the period of their stay is from July 2 to September 2, with a total of 68 children in the Region of Murcia.
The summer there is very hot, and easily exceeds 50 degrees, so they are brought in these dates, in addition to coinciding with the holiday period.
During their stay, children have medical, dental and ophthalmological visits to have their health checked and solve any problem they may have.
The children welcomed will enjoy this summer a time away from the precarious conditions and high temperatures that support in this time in the camps, as well as a balanced diet, the sea or the pool.
