The Musical Union of Torre Pacheco, will be the only Murcian band that will participate in the 132nd edition of the International Music Band Competition "Ciutat de Valencia", which will be held at the Palau de la Música of the Capital of Turia del July 19 to 23.
In this contest, undoubtedly one of the most important in Europe in the field of Banda music, 26 musical groups will participate, from Andalusia, the Valencian Community, Galicia, and Madrid, as well as the Murcia band already mentioned.
The international representation will be in charge of the Municipal Band Soacha Cundinamarca, of Colombia, the Symphonisches Blasorchester Kreuzlingen, of Switzerland and, from Portugal, the Associaçao Recreativa e Musical Amigos da Branca.
Specifically, the band pachequera act next Friday, July 20, within the section reserved for Bands of Second Section, (consisting of a minimum of 56 musicians and a maximum of 80).
The Musical Union of Torre Pacheco, already won the first prize of this prestigious contest in 2009, when it belonged to the third section.
Now, in the second section, will dispute the prestige of the triumph and the 4.000, 2.000 and 1.500 Euros of the economic prizes, with other five musical formations: Los Montesinos Musical Group, of Alicante;
the also from Alicante Musical Society "La Harmonica" de Cox;
the Musical Union of the Madrilenian town of Pozuelo de Alarcón;
the Artistic Musical Society of Benifaió (Valencia) and the Swiss band Symphonisches Blasorchester Kreuzlingen.
All of them will interpret as a compulsory piece the composition "A duty of love", by Vicente Ortiz Gimeno, who was the winner of the contest organized to commemorate the first centenary of the birth of the poet of Orihuela.
For its part, UM Torre Pacheco will perform, under the direction of its conductor, Antonio García Gil during the turn of free choice pieces, "Coplas Murcianas", with lyrics by Antonio Martínez and Andrés Massotti Music and "The States of the mind ", Symphony n ° 2, opus 87, by Teo Aparicio Barberán.
