Miguel López-Morell: "You can generate an important focus of ecological and cultural tourism that in turn would lead to the creation of new jobs and opportunities for entrepreneurs"
Citizens has called on the regional government to take the necessary measures to enhance the natural space of Cabezo Gordo de Torre Pacheco as soon as possible, following the criteria of the motion presented by the orange formation in the Regional Assembly and approved by unanimously on June 28.
Miguel López-Morell, regional deputy of Citizens, has made this request after a visit to the surroundings of the Cabezo Gordo in which he has been accompanied by the mayor of Torre Pacheco, Antonio León, and by several representatives of the Citizens group in this municipality , among them, Rubén Tardido, councilor of Cs in the Town Hall, and Susana Alcaraz, coordinator of the group.
López Morell has appealed "to the important ecological, landscape, geomorphological and paleontological interest of a protected natural space, declared Site of Community Interest, and that therefore is within the Natura 2000 Network, and the need to put in value the paleontological museum regional in which an important economic investment has been made ".
In this regard, López-Morell has indicated that the enhancement of the environment for the enjoyment of visitors will generate an important focus of ecological and cultural tourism that, in turn, will lead to the creation of new jobs and opportunities for entrepreneurs.
"This requires the collaboration and involvement of the affected administrations, both local and regional, which must work together with the owners of Cabezo Gordo for the construction of public-private facilities, aimed at promoting ecotourism based on permaculture"
Among the many possibilities offered by the Cabezo Gordo environment, López-Morell has stressed that joint information and environmental interpretation actions could be promoted, in English and Spanish, on subjects such as paleontology, botany or speleology;
the recovery of former barracks, now in ruins, to create and enhance the joint use of public and private facilities;
or the promotion of ecotourism development.
"The options offered by the environment are immense, but it is important that the measures adopted for the enhancement of the natural space are agreed upon within the public-private partnership and that they are economically sustainable", concluded the deputy of the training orange.
