The PROMETEO Residence in the Pasico already has its first users (09/10/2018)

Last Friday, October 5, the Association of Parents of Disabled Psychic, Physical and Sensory, Prometeo, Torre Pacheco, opened its doors, in an act of welcome to the 10 users of this residence-residence, with the assistance of the counselor of Family and Equality of Opportunities, Violante Tomás, the Mayor of Torre Pacheco, Antonio León, the president of the Association of Parents of Disabled Psychic, Physical and Sensory (Prometheus), Ascensión Méndez, as well as members of the Municipal Corporation, and directors of the Association.

Ascensión Méndez, president of the association was very satisfied with this new performance and indicated that the residents are adapting perfectly to their new home and they are very participative in all the activities they are developing, she also pointed out that the two places left free they are intended to be used for family respite or for other users who need this home in an emergency situation.

The users will be assisted by monitors and caregivers, a total of 8, in addition to having a social worker, nursing and physiotherapy service.

This residence will be a complement to other services provided by this association such as its Day Center, which is under construction to expand its facilities, and its Early Care Center.

The Mayor of Torre Pacheco, Antonio Leon said that this action is due to an agreement signed with the municipality of the municipality for which this facility was assigned to Prometheus.

The house has 12 places of which 10 have been arranged with the IMAS with an investment of 53,708 euros.

The Autonomous Community, through the Murcia Institute of Social Action IMAS, this year funded with 3,338,665 euros a total of 338 places for the promotion of the autonomy of people with intellectual disabilities in sheltered housing and specialized services for the promotion of autonomy (Sepad and Cepad).

These places are distributed in eleven centers throughout the Region.

The Minister of Family and Equal Opportunities, Violante Tomás stressed that "the Region is a pioneer in the implementation of services to improve the autonomy for people with intellectual disabilities, with the aim of promoting equal opportunities, non-discrimination and accessibility universal".

In addition, the counselor added that "with actions such as sheltered housing is intended that its users have the highest level of independence possible and that they can participate in their environment as each one chooses, with the rights and obligations that correspond to them as citizens, facilitating the necessary support. "
