Three high-capacity radio-link connections have been installed between the central offices of the City of Torre-Pacheco and the districts of Roldan, Balsicas and Dolores de Pacheco.
In turn, in each of the districts, a system of Wi-Fi hotspots has been installed to create a free internet connection network for the users of the different centers.
This service has started to work since December 1 at the Roldán Public Library, the Civic Center of Balsicas and the Civic Center of Dolores de Pacheco.
The users of this Wifi network in the districts will enjoy the same features as the existing Wi-Fi network in the Torre-Pacheco Public Library and the CIS Study Room, better known as "Politeca", will be able to access the Internet at an average speed Guaranteed up to 4 MB per second and by connected device (laptop, tablet or mobile), thanks to the use of a central internet connection line located in the 300 Megas Town Hall via FTTH.
The investment made in this project has been 14,000 euros.
The Councilor for Public Safety and New Technologies, Juan Salvador Sánchez, stressed "the commitment of the government team to universalize access to the Internet, with the creation of points of free Wi-Fi access, as well as the improvement in the quality of telecommunications in the public spaces ", that are going to allow the neighbors of the districts to have an internet connection" with the same bandwidth as the one that exists in Torre Pacheco ".
Sanchez also announced that "in the coming months the high speed will also reach the San Diego and San Cayetano, as the Department is working on these new connections."
The Councilor for Education, Youth and Employment, Conchi Martínez, has also explained that the intention of the local government is "to create study rooms in the main districts, where young people can attend 24 hours through an identification system with electronic card" .
The first step is, according to the councilor, to establish a quality internet connection and a telematic management system from the central services of the City Council that also allows carrying out the maintenance tasks of the equipment with greater speed.
"The young people and students of Torre Pacheco are in luck, since this update also comes at the time of study for the January exams at the universities and when high school and high school students are finishing their evaluations."
