On the occasion of the "World Day of books and copyright," the Department of Education and Culture, together with the Municipal Public Library, performs many actions and promotes activities to promote the book and encourage reading.
This year we pay homage to Antonio Mingote on the centenary of his birth 1919-2019.
Antonio Mingote, although he is the author of stories and some novels, his fame comes mainly from his intense activity in the field of graphic humor.
In his facet of graphic humorist, Mingote was a contributor to numerous magazines and newspapers, such as La Codorniz and ABC and published historical-humorous books, such as Historia de la gente (1955 and 1984), Historia de Madrid (11961), historia of the costume (1963), Hombre solo, Hombre tranquila (1976), 5 years of Madrid (1978) and El mus: history, regulation, technique, vocabulary (1980).
The graphic-literary style of Antonio Mingote, is characterized by subtlety and irony, quick and accurate painting of strokes and description of characters and ideologies, and also by social sensitivity.
Since 1987 it belonged to the Royal Academy of the Language;
and his work deserved numerous awards and distinctions.
Exhibitions, storytelling, book presentations, conferences, workshops, theater, meetings.
A varied and extensive campaign of activities of the Day of the Book, organized by the Municipality of Torre Pacheco, which runs until May 21.
Currently you can visit in the Exhibition Hall of the Municipal Public Library of Torre Pacheco and until April 29, "The Juan Ros movie picture show".
The students of the municipality, participate in different activities, such as the Literary Restaurant, Yincana "I know the library of my people", as well as, chess and domino tournaments.
For the more adventurous, next Saturday April 13 "Pocomiedo, story night in the Library", from 7.30 pm to 9.30 on Sunday, where children will live an unforgettable adventure among books and discover corners of the Library when it closes its doors to the public, becoming an unforgettable night.
Eva Barro, will present her novel "Un hombre normal" finalist in the Fernando Lara novel prize, Editorial Planeta, on Tuesday, April 16 at 7:30 p.m.
Also, Lucía Chumillas Galindo will present her book "los critos del silencio", on Tuesday, 23rd of the Book, at 7:30 p.m.
The conference "Mingote, orchestra man", given by José Manuel Puebla, will be on Wednesday, April 24, at 12.00, for high school students, for whom there will also be a Master Class with Salva Espín, with a demonstration of drawing in the creative processes to design a character.
The award ceremony of the XXVI Narrative Short Story Contest Villa de Torre Pacheco, and the VIII Micro Fiction Contest of the Torre Pacheco Municipal Public Library, will be on Sunday, May 5, starting at 11.30 am, and then the conference " How a black novel is constructed "by the writer and journalist Marta Robles.
