The current mayor of Torre Pacheco, Antonio León Garre, will again opt as candidate n ° 1 for the Independent Party to the local elections of 26 / May, following the agreement adopted in the concurred Extraordinary General Assembly convened for the purpose and that, by acclamation , has once again entrusted the mayor with the responsibility of presenting himself to the municipal elections with a candidacy that will be prepared by the Electoral Committee, which was also elected at the same meeting.
Antonio León Garre (Torre Pacheco, 1969) is an architect from the Polytechnic University of Valencia and professor of Building and Civil Works, currently on leave for public office.
He has belonged to different groups of the municipality and has a long professional and teaching career.
He has been a councilor for eight years and mayor since 2015, in which, together with his Government Team, he has managed to restore stability and confidence in the municipality, restore the institutional normality of a City Council that he collected indebted and without a future to turn it into a sound management and in a position to face a hopeful future and in constant economic and social progress.
The already independent candidate for mayor thanked the enormous effort of his group of councilors (the PITP has seven mayors in the current Local Corporation) in the last four years, highlighting the internal cohesion and the unity of the team that has made possible the expected change that has occurred in Torre Pacheco since 2015 and has encouraged to continue in that line, honest and committed to the independent electorate and the 36,000 residents of the municipality.
The lines of the electoral program to attend the elections and the composition of the candidacy that will accompany Antonio León are the immediate objectives of the Independent Party, present in Torre Pacheco since the first democratic elections of 1979, initially under the acronym of UCD and CDS and the historic mayor Pedro Jiménez (Honorary President of the PITP) and, later, as a free and independent group of other political groups, whose principles are within its statutes to SERVE the residents of the municipality from the participation, freedom and dignity of the person, the defense of democracy and the Spanish Constitution and the economic, cultural and social progress of Torre Pacheco.
