One of the objectives of the Objective Sustainability Project that is developed in the CRA Entretierras of El Jimenado is to bring the City Council, as the closest Public Administration, to the children of this district, as well as to promote their capacities to express their critical opinion about the Sustainable Development Goals, adopted in 2015 by the UN General Assembly within the framework of the 2030 Agenda.
Today the group of students participating in the Project have met in the Plenary Hall of the City Council of Torre Pacheco with the Mayor, Antonio León Garre, as well as with the delegated councilors of Education, Youth and Employment, Inmaculada Concepción Martínez , of Finance and Communication, Carlos López Martínez, of Social Services and Equality, Verónica Martínez Marín, of Urbanism, Environment and Agriculture, Alberto Galindo Rosique, as well as that of Citizen Participation and Transparency, Mª Valentina López Martínez.
In this meeting the students of the CRA Entretierras have been able to express to the councilors their concern about the problems that affect the sustainability of the planet from the focus of the Sustainable Development Goals while the Mayor and the area councilors have responded to each one of the issues that schoolchildren have previously been working on in class.
Thus, some of the questions posed to the municipal government team have been: "Are you doing any action to reduce poverty?";
"What organizations are there in the municipality to fight against hunger?";
"Is something being done in Torre Pacheco so that inequality between genres disappears?"
or "How could the City Council help in the action for the weather?".
After the meeting, before returning to the School Center, the group was able to make a tour of the facilities of the Town Hall, accompanied by members of the Municipal Corporation.
