Yesterday, April 9, 2019, a group of students of the IES Juan Sebastian El Cano de Cartagena enjoyed the Green Route organized by the Department of Tourism of the City of Torre Pacheco.
Specifically, 41 students came from 1 st, 2 nd, 3 rd ESO and 1 st Bachelor.
The visit began at the Integrated Center for Training and Agricultural Experiences (CIFEA), where training courses related to agriculture, rural areas, gardening, floristry, landscaping and agriculture are being studied.
This group was received by the councilor of Urbanism, Environment and Agriculture Mr. Alberto Galindo Rosique, and the Councilor of Celebrations and Volunteering Ms. Yolanda Castaño López.
CIFEA is the ideal place for visitors to know the different types of crops, irrigation systems and intensive farming techniques.
The good work of its students and teachers and its great variety of plantations and gardens make this school center the best example to show the importance of agriculture in Torre Pacheco.
The route continued with the visit to the facilities of Semilleros Jimenado, a pachequera company that produces horticultural plants since 1989. The students observed the sowing process through specialized machinery, the importance of the germination chamber and attended the different types of greenhouse where the Plants complete their growth.
As it could not be otherwise, Torre Pacheco's melon became the protagonist of this route.
In this time the seedbed is full of plants of this sweet and refreshing dish that will soon be the king of our tables.
The students of the IES Juan Sebastián el Cano, were very happy with the explanations and kindness received from the staff of CIFEA and Semilleros Jimenado.
In addition, they received as a gift numerous plants that will decorate their school garden and the didactic booklet of the Green Route.
