The horticultural company GRUVENTA expects a very positive "melon" campaign in quality and with a demand that we estimate will be very interesting for our buyers.
The collection of extra early melon varieties has already begun in the Region of Murcia.
French varieties such as Cantaloup, Galia or HoneyDew, among others, occupy more than 1,000 regional hectares.
Within this variety stands out the Charentais type, with an area of ​​183 hectares, which begins its harvest almost a month and a half before the traditional varieties.
The bulk of the melon harvest campaign is concentrated between the months of June and July.
GRUVENTA sources have pointed out that "Murcian melon has an extraordinary international dimension and, we foresee a very dynamic campaign commercially speaking, with a fluid demand".

Murcia: First province exporter of Spanish melon
Murcia is the first melon export province, ahead of Almeria.
The main destination for Charentais and Cantaloupe exports is France, with 62,511 tons.
In 2018, this meant revenues of more than 62 million euros for melon producers, with an increase in exports of 5.68 percent, point from the Ministry of Agriculture of Murcia.
Currently, GRUVENTA is exporting more than 25 horticultural products that it markets in more than 40 countries, through a dozen international distribution chains.
