The mayor of Torre Pacheco, Antonio León, and the Councilor for Equality, Veronica Martinez, accompanied by José Antonio Saura, professor of the course and Lola Nieto, responsible for the Senior Program, have made the closing and delivery of diplomas to participants in the course "Introduction to Computer Science and Internet", which has had a practical training in new technologies of 30 hours.
The course organized by the Department of Social Services, through the Senior Program, began last January, ending yesterday, with the delivery of diplomas, developed in the Computer Room of the House of Radio, and with the participation of 12 elderly people.
The main objective of this training is to provide computer and technological knowledge to the elderly, who have difficulties in accessing new technologies, tools to put into practice in their daily lives, both for their leisure time, and to access certain processes, such as requesting a medical appointment, procedures with the Administration, communicating with relatives, consulting information on the Internet, etc.
Martinez stressed the importance of this initiative, in order to break down barriers in the use of technology, pointing out that it is an activity highly valued by its users.
