The Civil Guard of Cuenca, after several months of investigation, has arrested two people in the town of Cañete for a crime against the protection of flora and fauna, when carrying out hunting activities with prohibited means, without authorization of the owner hunting and being surprised with four trophies of fallow deer and deer.
The investigation begins last June, when members of the Cañete Civil Guard Post are aware of a possible commission of criminal acts by a gang of poachers who practiced hunting illegally by the preserves belonging to the localities of Cañete, Salvacañete, Zafrilla, etc., all of them belonging to the province of Cuenca.
These individuals were causing great social alarm, since they caused among the users of the hunting grounds in the area a feeling of lack of protection, helplessness and unease, due to an excessive and disrespectful action towards natural balance, since they killed every animal that They found their way regardless of whether it was time or zone allowed for the exercise of hunting.
Thanks to the Civil Guard investigation work, the indications indicated that this band could be made up of people who came from the province of Murcia.
With this information the agents of the Benemérita, focus the investigation on the location of vehicles and people, not usual in the demarcation, intensifying the surveillance and control in the places where it was foreseeable that they could circulate, in order to surprise them in the moment to hunt or return from hunting, illegally and to proceed against them administratively or criminally.
So in the early hours of October 15 to 16, after an operation mounted by the Civil Guard, a dark off-road vehicle is detected, possibly one of those used by the band.
The agents stopped the vehicle in order to identify its occupants, observing two rifles and that the co-pilot carried between the legs a thermal visor with a rifle coupling, a thermal visor and night visor, both lit and ready for use.
In addition, in the trunk part of the vehicle they discovered four animal heads, three of them belonging to fallow deer and the other, which was still bleeding in liquid form, from a deer.
First of all the observed and after the verifications of both the documentation that could enable them, as the legality of the bearing and use of the instruments and effects found, the Civil Guard proceeded to arrest these people, two neighboring men from the town of Torre Pacheco (Murcia), for the commission of a crime related to the protection of flora, fauna and domestic animals, prescribed in Article 335.2 of Law 10/1995 of the Criminal Code, also notifying them of several administrative violations of the Hunting Law for its sanction by the competent Authority.
The Civil Guard also seized two rifles, thermal visors, night visors, several stations and other prohibited instruments for the exercise of hunting by hand.
The detainees, together with the proceedings instructed by the Civil Guard of Cañete, were made available to the Court of Instruction of the Capital Basin.
