The General Directorate of Cultural Property, through the Restoration Center of the Municipal Archive has restored a topographic map of the estate of D. Francisco Melgarejo, known as Hacienda Valderas, located in Roldán
The general director of Cultural Assets, Rafael Gómez, delivered to the mayor of Torre Pacheco, Antonio León, the “Topographic Map of the estate of D. Francisco Melgarejoâ€, dated April 30, 1872, after being restored in the Restoration Workshop of the General Archive of the Region of Murcia.
An act that was held on Wednesday, November 6, in the General Archive of the Region of Murcia, and which was attended by the mayor of Torre Pacheco, Antonio León, the Councilor for Culture, Raúl Lledó, the Councilor for Finance and Communication , Carlos López and Carmen María Alcaraz, Municipal Archive;
as well as the general director of Cultural Assets, Rafael Gómez, the director of the General Archive, Javier Castillo and the restorer Esther Marcos.
The Topographic Plan is part of the Documentary Fund of the Municipal Archives of Torre Pacheco, and it is a paper printed paper, made with mechanical pulp of poor quality and large format, with measures 169 cm high by 120 wide .. The state of conservation of the plane, was very bad, due to a series of factors that have influenced its deterioration such as the manufacture of paper itself, the environmental degradation it has suffered (humidity, temperature and light) and a previous restoration.
The restoration treatment was carried out after a period of analytical tests necessary to be able to safely determine the damage and its possible treatments.
And as Marcos explained, the restoration process consisted in the elaboration of an identification card, initial photographs, complete elimination of all the previous restoration, mechanical cleaning, washing and deacidification, wet cracking, drying, reintegration of areas lost, chromatic reintegration, lamination, mounting on new frame and final photographs;
a process that has lasted more than a year.
The City Council of Torre Pacheco, is preparing an Exhibition of the Topographic Plan and its restoration, so that all the neighbors can contemplate these documents of great historical, patrimonial and documentary importance.
The plan made by the agronomist Pedro Lozano, in 1872, shows the Valderas Farm, formed by the main house, and details of the land, as well as the existing plantations.
