Carmen Maura returns to the theater after her last foray in 2013. The swallow is the text by Guillem Clua that the experienced actress faces by the prestigious director Josep Maria Mestres, who has directed more than sixty shows.
In the cast he will be accompanied by the prolific actor Dafnis Balduz, known for his professional career in theater and film.
He is also known for his role in the television series Ladies of the (H) AMPA or for being the winner of the Gaudí Prize for the best secondary male performance for his role in the film Forasteros.
The swallow is inspired by the terrorist attack that occurred on June 12, 2016 at the Pulse club in Orlando (United States).
The play brings together two characters, Amelia and Ramón.
Carmen Maura, in the role of Mrs. Amelia, a severe singing teacher, receives Ramón at home, a young man who wishes to improve his vocal technique to sing at the memorial of his recently deceased mother.
The song chosen, The swallow, has a special meaning for him and, apparently, also for Amelia, who despite his initial reluctance agrees to give him a first class.
What is it that makes us humans?
Of all the things we are and do, what do you think is what really defines our humanity?
For Amelia, a mother wounded in the depths of her soul, the answer is in pain.
"What really makes us human is the ability to feel the pain of others as our own. That is what sets us apart from beasts," says Clua.
The play starring Carmen Maura and Dafnis Balduz arrives at Torre Pacheco on November 24 at the Performing Arts Center at 7:00 p.m.
