Artists by the Mar Menor] | From February 7 to 28, in the Exhibition Hall of the Municipal Public Library of Torre Pacheco |
35 artists from various disciplines show their works to raise awareness about the Environment and the Mar Menor, through photographs, video, sculpture, music, painting, literature and intervened objects.
It all started with a meeting, after the DANA suffered in the area last September.
The painter and photographer Javier Lorente, curator of the exhibition and his partner, Olga Catasús, summoned painters, sculptors, photographers, actors, poets and musicians to a day of collection of plastics and garbage at the mouth of the Rambla de El Beal, in the Mar Menor.
In addition to picking up a waste truck, some of them very toxic, on that day they made a whole series of ephemeral works of art, some of which are shown in this exhibition, while others are photographed.
Among the participants, the sculptor Sofía Tornero and the singer-songwriter and painter Caridad Gil, who coordinated, together with the curator, the artistic and environmental call, as well as the sculptor Petrus Borgia, responsible for the assembly of the exhibition.
In addition to the photographs of Javier Lorente, we can see those of Sergio Ferreira, Florencia Borja and Cani Mancebo.
The music is carried out by Cari Gil, Marcos Amorós and Luis Muñoz Clares who, in addition to playing the flute, conducted an instrument manufacturing workshop with recycled materials.
Also participating in the show are poets Alberto Caride and María M. Azorín, actors such as José Salguero y Cía, sculptors such as Sáenz de Elorrieta and other plastic artists such as Clara Ledo, Domix Garrido, Goyo, Jesús Inglés, Joaquina Sánchez Dato, José María Garres , Lucas Brox, Marta Atram, Miguel Ángel Gálvez, Miguel Ángel Cánovas, Miguel Peñalver, María José Lluch, J. Maarsot, Raúl Estal, Gerald Janowsky, etc.
The exhibition aims to raise awareness about the ravages of our civilization to the environment, about our unsustainable pace of life and the waste we produce, especially the danger of plastics for the survival of our world.
In addition, MAR & PLÁSTICOS is a beautiful initiative that tells us how to recycle the worst of us, how to turn our own garbage into art.
