The average payment period to suppliers of the City of Torre Pacheco is reduced to 5.35 days in the third quarter of 2019, below the symbolic figure of 10 days and only exceeded by the City of Beniel in the speed of payment to their suppliers.

The Councilor for Finance and Communication, Carlos López, has congratulated himself for the effective reduction in the average payment period, because it implies "not only that the City Council is facing its payments more effectively than a year ago, but the measures of speeding up and efficiency taken by the government team have immediate effects, and it is the suppliers, mostly small and medium enterprises of the municipality, that are benefiting from them. "

López stressed that "the impulse to public procurement has allowed to regularize and normalize the economic relationship of the City Council with all service providers, and that the change in administrative culture promoted from the areas of Contracting and Intervention has been key in this reduction of deadlines. "

"The City Council, through the Municipal Treasury, orders payments quickly thanks also to zero-cost financing obtained for the second consecutive year. The City Council signed last December a short-term operation to face all payments of the first quarter, obtaining liquidity at zero interest, without cost to the municipal coffers, thanks to the sound situation of the accounts ".

The current priority of the economic area is to recover the path of stability after the extraordinary expenses faced after the DANA of September and January, which have had a negative impact on the budgetary and economic forecasts, in which the Department of Finance currently works.

In any case, López said, "we maintain the prompt payment to our suppliers as a key tool to generate certainty and economic stability in the municipality, advancing that the 4th quarter of 2020 has closed with 9.09 days of average payment period."
