The mayor of Torre Pacheco, Antonio León accompanied by the general director of the Natural Environment Fulgencio Perona, as well as members of the Municipal Corporation and Technicians have supervised, this morning the actions carried out in the Cabezo Gordo.

León has highlighted the Cabezo Gordo, as a natural space with a very unique and varied character, with respect to its morphology, situation and ecological, landscape and historical components that house, as well as a great root in the social customs of the area, highlighting, once again, the paleoanthropological site of the Sima de las Palomas.

A very necessary conditioning, which has been carried out in the area of ​​the Cabezo Gordo, reiterating the need for the maintenance of this protected space as well as the respect on the part of the citizens has commented, the Mayor, highlighting the work of all administrations, for conserve and protect the Big Head.

For its part, Perona, has listed the intervention carried out from the General Directorate of the Natural Environment, which has consisted of a replacement of the entire signage issue, homologating it to all that exists in the parks of the Region and at the same time they have repaired the boundaries, the wooden railings, as well as the entrance door of the Water Cave, having to undertake some small restoration works, for the landslides caused by the past rains of last September, as well as in the area of parking where all the rainwater arrived, so several detours have been made so that not all the flow reaches this parking area.

An investment of approximately 90,000 euros for the conditioning of the signage of interpretation and management of the public use of this space, as well as to address maintenance and adaptation works of management infrastructure and public use deteriorated, in addition, the conditioning of the infrastructures intended for use public, as well as the management of the fauna and flora of the area through the arrangement of access and stay of the users who visit this space.
