Among other actions planned for this year, the new treatment plants in Cañadas de San Pedro (Murcia) and Los Valientes (Molina de Segura) stand out
The Board of Directors of the Wastewater Sanitation and Purification Entity of the Region of Murcia (Esamur) today approved its budget for this year, some accounts with which "the Region of Murcia will continue to be a reference and leading in purification, water sanitation and reuse, "said the Minister of Water, Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Environment, Antonio Luengo, who chaired the meeting.
Among the planned actions, the owner of Water highlighted the construction of the storm tank at Torre Pacheco, "so necessary to retain torrential rainwater that currently ends in the Mar Menor";
the reform of the tertiary treatment system of the San Javier treatment plant, to consolidate compliance with wastewater reuse regulations;
the construction of the Las Torres de Cotillas WWTP environmental tank, to reduce the number of municipal sewer stormwater relief;
or the construction of the new treatment plants in Cañadas de San Pedro (Murcia) and Los Valientes (Molina de Segura).
Esamur's budget for 2020 amounts to 72,450,994 euros, of which 9.5 million will go towards new investments "that allow us to improve the service to the inhabitants of different municipalities and improve the systems used, thus contributing to a greater efficiency or advance in the use of renewable energy, "said Luengo.
The counselor also highlighted the assembly of photovoltaic installations to reduce consumption of the electricity grid through the use of alternative energy in the sewage treatment plants of Alguazas, Abanilla, Bullas, Calasparra, Ceutí, Fortuna, Los Alcázares, Mula, La Unión, Lorquí, Puerto Lumbreras and Moratalla, which will allow to produce more than 1,800,000 kWh with this clean energy, contributing to the environmental improvement in the Region.
Currently, the Region of Murcia has 98 treatment plants and 56 pumping stations that allow the purification of 99 percent of the water and reuse 98 percent in new activities, mainly agriculture, which means a high level of savings and helps to fight against climate change.
