The City Council continues to process payments to suppliers, with the aim of ensuring the liquidity of companies and freelancers who work for the consistory.
The Local Government Board has approved invoices for a total amount of 1,131,787.79 euros in the last 20 days, guaranteeing compliance with the average supplier payment period (PMP), which in the last quarter of 2019 stood at 9.09 days.
According to the Councilor for Finance, Carlos López, "during the last legislature we managed to meet the objectives set by the Ministry of Finance in terms of meeting payment deadlines, going from 120 days in 2015 to less than 30 in 2019 , and we have continued to reduce the PMP to minimum levels. "
However, one of the City Council's priorities at the moment is that the COVID-19 crisis does not become a liquidity crisis, so a Treasury Plan is being established by the Treasury Area for the coming months that allows face all current payments of the City Council without affecting public services and allowing companies and freelancers who work for the consistory to quickly obtain liquidity as consideration for services, supplies and works carried out.
The City Council has also taken other measures to alleviate the economic consequences of the COVID-19 crisis, such as the suspension of the Terraces Rate, the Garbage Rate during the second quarter, the Market Rate and the Business Nursery Rate, as well as that of all the cultural, educational and sports services that are not being provided.
Likewise, moratoriums have been established in the tax periods that were pending until the end of the State of Alarm, including the increase in the term in the payment of the Tax on Mechanical Traction Vehicles, postponed from May 5 to June 12, as well as reduction of deferrable minimums in taxes and their duration.
López has also explained that the City Council fully adheres to the requests of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP), which has prepared a dossier with 19 proposals to the different public administrations on financial measures, expansion of powers and budgetary measures that allow equip the town councils with the necessary resources to face the COVID-19 crisis.
