Professionals from the Department of Social Services and Immigration visit the settlements and sub-dwellings that exist in the municipality in order to meet the needs of people living in segregated environments and highly vulnerable to the health crisis in which we find ourselves.
Following the recommendations of the Ministry of Social Rights and the 2030 Agenda, on the performance of primary care social services in the face of the COVID-19 crisis in segregated settlements and highly vulnerable neighborhoods, municipal social services have visited the settlements in order to ensure that people who live in this type of infra-housing comply with the confinement rules established for the rest of the citizenship, while guaranteeing their safety and the possibility of having basic services and benefits for social emergencies.
Given the lack of knowledge of the situation and the degree of compliance with the measures imposed in these environments, the Department of Social Services has identified these people to explain the preventive measures recommended by the health authorities and ensure that they are adequately understood. at the same time that it will attend to the basic needs, provision of food and other basic necessities for the population residing in these areas.
From Social Services, extraordinary measures have been implemented with the main objective of alleviating and cushioning the negative effect that the situation of confinement and the state of alarm is having on the most vulnerable population.
For the situation in which we find ourselves, the Councilor for Social Services and Immigration Mª José López has stated that “from primary care we must be prepared with the necessary resources that allow us to face this crisis so that the suffering of people is the least possible."
