| The City Council of Torre Pacheco publishes a Bill to prevent further unauthorized discharges of rainwater from the water table of buildings into the municipal sewer network | The abundant rains during the 2019/20 hydrological year, as well as the lower extraction of groundwater, are causing the water table to have risen a lot, being at some points in the municipality of Torre Pacheco one meter deep. This situation is generating problems due to the filtration or intrusion of water inside the structures of the buildings, such as energy expenditure and discharge to the sewer network, which causes the salinity of the water to have increased in the sewage network, which reaches the Torre Pacheco Wastewater Treatment Plant, having to purify water that does not need it and damaging the rest of the water, since the high salinity means that farmers cannot reuse it for irrigation. This has been communicated by the mayor of Torre Pacheco, Antonio León in a Bando in which it is explained that the City Council has detected, together with the concessionaire company of the potable water and sewerage service Hidrogea, more and more discharges / leaks of groundwater to the sewerage network coming from public and private buildings. From the City Council it is reported that said unauthorized discharges must stop, due to the damage they are causing to the wastewater, since once they are purified they cannot be used for irrigation and they must be discharged as a public channel. The owners of private buildings in which water discharges are generated from the water table to the sewer system are warned that such conduct implies non-compliance with the regulations governing use and discharges to the sewer system, for which reason the discharges must stop.
, having to adopt the necessary measures for it.
