Last Sunday, June 7, the deadline for voting on the youth participatory budgets organized by the Department of Citizen Participation of the Torre Pacheco City Council ended, with a participation of around 15% of the boys and girls who study in the municipality and who are in the age range between 14 and 18 years.
This percentage is above the average compared to the levels of participation in this type of process, even more so considering that due to the restrictions caused by the health crisis, the last phase of the process and the voting had to be done via telematics. Participants have had to choose up to a maximum of 5 among 18 proposals from various fields, from initiatives related to the improvement of sports facilities, through cultural activities, adaptation of leisure spaces for young people, equipment for educational centers and study rooms, to actions to raise awareness and defend the environment.Finally, the most voted proposals have been:Regarding the proposals addressed to the municipality as a whole, the most voted measure was "Teenage place: young space with reception and surveillance for weekends", with 136 votes (56%), valued at 10,000 euros.Second, with 131 votes (54%), they have chosen "Recycle through machines that return part of the cost of plastic bottles", with an expected cost of 10,000 euros.Although the third most voted proposal, with 52%, had been the acquisition of computer material for educational centers, it must finally be discarded since its cost (14,000 euros), accumulated to the two previous proposals, exceeds the established budget of 24,000 euros .Therefore, the third eligible proposal with the most support, with 108 votes (45%), was the "Organization of escape room sessions", valued at 4,000 euros.On the other hand, regarding the voting on actions to be carried out specifically in Roldán, the results have given as a winning proposal the "Room with board games and projector in a multipurpose center in Roldán for weekend access", with 29 votes (36%), and an estimated cost of 6,000 euros.For more information on the results of Torre Pacheco's Youth Participatory Budgets, they are available on the platform https://torrepacheco.citizink.com/info/
