The Councilor for Education of the City Council of Torre Pacheco, Paco Sáez, attended the final of the contest for secondary "Discover your region 2020", organized by the EcoCultural association, held in the Plenary Hall of the City Council of Los Alcázares, last Monday 29 of June.In this edition, the group "The paparajotes" of the IES Las Claras del Mar Menor was proclaimed champion, with "Team Ayuso" (Las Claras) and "Los Ermitaños" (Dolores de Pacheco in second and third place respectively.
"The Stars" (Dolores de Pacheco and "Los Oliva" (Sierra Minera La Unión) came in fourth and fifth place.
All the groups demonstrated a magnificent command and knowledge of the region and its values.The contest, in its sixth edition, started in January and consisted, in its first phase, of working on a questionnaire with questions about the historical, natural, economic, cultural and social environment.
Dozens of high school students from Torre Pacheco, Los Alcázares and La Unió completed this first phase.
The best groups went to the final phase.
Although, due to the enormous difficulties inherent in the pandemic, many groups from other participating centers have been unable to complete the process.The contest has had, on this occasion, the collaboration of the City Council of Torre Pacheco and Los Alcázares, who have sponsored the awards and collaborated in various aspects with the EcoCultural Association.
