The Councilor for Finance and Communication, Carlos López, has participated in this first constitutive meeting of this Assembly of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces, whose objective is to develop the Sustainable Development Goals established by the United Nations at the local level.Representatives of more than 100 local entities from all over Spain participated in the meeting, as well as the President of the FEMP, and the Mayor of Vigo, Abel Caballero.
Caballero has precisely highlighted the importance of the local in the development of the SDGs, as well as the main role that the City Councils will play in economic recovery and compliance with the horizons established by the UN, and also assumed by the European Union and national and autonomous governments in our country.The Councilor for Finance, Carlos López, stressed that the City Council has this legislature as an objective to bet on the strategic planning of the municipality and the city, through the EDUSI Tierra de Contrastes, which has already begun to walk, and also the transversal work between different areas with the objective of meeting the sustainable development objectives.Precisely the EDUSI is going to involve an investment in this legislature of more than 2.9 million euros, and López has pointed out that the City's entry into programs such as the Network of Local Entities for the 2030 Agenda will precisely favor the raising of funds and subsidies to make necessary investments in our municipality.According to López, "the European Recovery Fund - Next Generation, which includes a very important contribution for our country of more than 140,000 million euros, will revolve around these sustainable development goals, and the City Council is already working to create an Office for European Projects and Strategic Planning, with a transversal and multidisciplinary vocation, which allows us to send the best projects so that we can make the necessary investments and transformations in our municipality ".
