The Torre Pacheco Municipal Library project 'Cultivo Cultura y el Bosque Encantado de la Biblioteca de Torre Pacheco "has been one of those awarded by the Ministry of Culture with the María Moliner prize for reading animation, endowed with 2,000 euros.The purpose of the contest is to reward those libraries that carry out a unique project that includes actions to encourage reading, efficiency and library work, social integration in their community, as well as the use of new technologies.As highlighted by the Councilor for Culture Raúl Lledó, in this edition, the XX María Moliner Reading Animation Campaign has awarded the work of 310 libraries belonging to municipalities with less than 50,000 inhabitants, and among them is the Torre Pacheco library.
The councilor explained that the programming of reading animation activities carried out by the library has been modified due to the health crisis of COVID-19, adapting to the current situation to continue offering services, so he wanted to value the effort and dedication of the Library staff, and the adaptation of the physical space to be a virtual reality.The Torre Pacheco Municipal Public Library has been recognized on several occasions for its reading animation projects in the María Moliner Call.
Likewise, with the award received this year, the library will have € 2,000 for the purchase of books, depending on the needs and with the aim of completing the municipal funds, whose beneficiaries will ultimately be all the residents of the municipality."With our project" Cultivation of Culture and the Enchanted Forest of the Torre Pacheco Library "and with the means we have," explained Juana María Sánchez Manzanares, librarian and head of the project, "we want to join the objectives of the 2030 Agenda through small initiatives that allow us to rebalance the relationship between people and nature, environmental education and sustainable development ".
In addition, he recalled that our municipality is eminently agricultural and our main means of subsistence, without forgetting that the land is not only a means of exploitation, but a place where we live and that we must take care of.
