According to the data recorded by the Tourist Office the number of visitors exceeded expectations interested coming from different points of the Spanish and international geography, to see one of the most important archaeological sites in the Mediterranean.

The Sima de las Palomas was the main focus, being the one day a year that is visitable, but also the Cueva del Agua was great prominence.

Overall, the Cabezo Gordo became a tourist and cultural attraction that served to publicize one of the most important paleontological sites in Europe as it is the Sima de las Palomas in Torre-Pacheco.
