In the morning the Mayor of Torre Pacheco, Antonio Leon and president SODITOR, Jose Sanchez, have signed a collaboration agreement with the aim of promoting actions to promote health and prevent disease, promoting healthy lifestyles and encouraging all those factors that may be related to the occurrence of preventable diseases.
Childhood obesity is associated with a higher chance of premature death and disability in adulthood.
Children who are overweight or obese are more likely to remain obese in adulthood and suffer at younger ages noncommunicable diseases such as diabetes or cardiovascular disease.
According to a study on childhood obesity, Torre-Pacheco has a prevalence of childhood overweight obesity + 31.2%.
Numerous studies in recent years on the breakfast show that these are not complete and abused bakery products, due to current rates and the short time available.
So out prevention and awareness programs for both children and their parents are brought from the Department of Social Services.
The economic value of this agreement amounts to € 2,000, and the actions to be taken are as follows:
- Days of Healthy Breakfasts in schools dining services aimed at children aged 1 Primary Education and their parents.
- Talks for parents on healthy eating in childhood.
- Promoting physical activity, to educate girls and boys in acquiring healthy habits.
"We intend that the objective of this activity is the internalization of the importance of a healthy diet in which healthy and nutritious foods that contribute to proper physical and intellectual development in children are introduced," said the Mayor.
