The director general of Water, Andrés Martínez, met today with the mayor of Torre Pacheco, Antonio León, to address the actions planned by the Ministry of Water, Agriculture and Environment in this municipality in water.
Among them is the construction of a rolling deposit at the wastewater treatment plant to avoid overflows of the sanitation network to Albujón rambla when there are torrential rainfall episodes that contribute higher flows than the treatment capacity of the treatment plant.
The General Water Directorate has already contracted the drafting of the project for the construction of this reservoir, in which various alternatives and systems will be analyzed to avoid relieving water with high concentrations of nutrients and turbidity.
The works are expected to be tendered throughout this year.
The meeting also analyzed other actions to improve the sanitation network of the municipality, focusing on the connection of small population centers with the regional sanitation system, to purify its wastewater.
The project of collectors of the place of the Saorines already is written and will be licited in the coming weeks.
In addition, infrastructure needs were addressed to prevent floods, such as the construction of storm drains, among other systems.
The actions indicated are integrated into the objectives of the II Sanitation and Treatment Plan of the Region of Murcia, whose objective is to increase the population connected to adequate purification systems and improve the conditions of evacuation of effluents before their discharge into the public hydraulic domain, As well as increasing the volume of water reused.
