The Department of Public Safety reports that in the week of March 13 to 19 a new campaign of surveillance and control of the security belt and individual retention systems (SRI) will be carried out by the Local Police in collaboration with the DGT .
During the indicated dates, therefore, there will be random police controls at different points in the municipality.
This type of campaign is very important to raise awareness of the importance of the use of safety belts and SRI, since they are basic and fundamental elements of road safety, which reduce by half the risk of death in the event of an accident.
The airbag is not effective if it is not complemented by the use of the seat belt.
The seatbelt and the airbag are designed to function in a complementary way.
Also, not using it in the rear seats is a big risk.
On a frontal impact, the likelihood that one occupant of the rear seats will mortally hit another passenger of the front seats can be up to 8 times greater.
