The contest "Discover your region" is organized by the EcoCultural Association with the collaboration of the City of Torre-Pacheco and its objective is to expand and promote knowledge about the region of the countryside of Cartagena.
In it participate 10 institutes of the municipalities of Torre-Pacheco, San Javier, San Pedro del Pinatar and Los Alcázares.
The centers involved have formed a total of 30 teams, each composed of three students, 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th of ESO.
To participate, the students had to answer a questionnaire of 90 questions based on an agenda developed by the EcoCultural Association related to the following topics: Environment, History, Murcia Region, Mar Menor, Characters, Socio-economic environment, Socio-political environment and local memory (referred to the four participating municipalities).
Of these 30 teams, each institute makes a first eliminatory selection after which there is only one team representing each center, so that for the final phase there are 10 groups.
This final phase of the competition will be held next Thursday May 4 in the Plenary Hall of the City of Torre-Pacheco, where the 10 groups will go through two phases of elimination until there are only 3 teams, which will compete for the top positions.
The prizes vary according to the position: for those who are in 1st place, a Tablet will be awarded for each member of the team, sponsored by the City of Torre-Pacheco;
For the 2nd place, an Intelligent Clock for each member, sponsored by the City Council of Los Alcázares;
And for those who are in 3rd place, a music team also for each member, sponsored by the City of San Pedro.
The final phase will take place next Thursday, May 4 at 19:00 in the Hall of Acts of the City and will be free entry, in addition to being broadcast by the Mar Menor 1 and the Radio Municipal de Torre-Pacheco.
This event will be attended by the mayor of Torre-Pacheco, Antonio León, and the member of the EcoCultural Association and the organizing committee of the contest, Jesús Galindo.
At the presentation of the final phase, Don Luis Manzanares, the son of the professor and writer of the same name, accompanied the culture and history of Torre-Pacheco.
