The initiative has received a grant from the SEF of 260,800 euros
The Community, through the program 'Youth Guarantee', has trained a total of 18 young people from Torre Pacheco without studies or employment to work in the hotel sector as cooks and pastry chefs;
The program has alternated theoretical training with paid employment and has started these young people in two different specialties: 'Basic cooking operations' and 'Basic baking operations'
This project, which has been developed under the title of 'Alimenta 2', has received a grant of 260,800 euros from the Ministry of Economic Development, Tourism and Employment, through the SEF, co-financed by the European Social Fund.
Ten of the 18 students have obtained a professional certificate that enables them to work as cooks and kitchen assistants, while the other eight are prepared in pastry and pastry aid work.
With these qualifications these young people can accredit the professional competences acquired during these months of training and effective work, which increases their options of finding work in establishments of the sector.
The director general of the SEF, Alejandro Zamora, today handed over to the participants a diploma in the specialty for which they have been trained in an act also attended by the mayor of the municipality, Antonio León.
During his speech, Zamora stressed that "this certificate of professionalism, valid throughout the national territory, will not only facilitate access to the labor market, but also the training necessary to keep them in it."
The program has offered nearly 1,800 training hours, of which 300 have served to complete the theoretical part and 1,500 for the implementation of the practical phase, in which the students were hired by the City of Torre-Pacheco to prepare the menus Of the social dining room, attended by Cáritas, as well as for gastronomic demonstrations held in the municipality.
Lower unemployment and raise affiliation in Torre-Pacheco
Prior to the delivery of certificates, Alejandro Zamora met with the mayor of Torre-Pacheco, Antonio León, to address other joint actions that serve to boost employment in the municipality.
The meeting analyzed the positive evolution of employment in Torre-Pacheco, where 341 people left unemployment in the last twelve months, which means a drop in unemployment of 13.06 percent, and the number of members of the Social Security Has increased by 669 people, representing an increase of 4.74 percent and places the number of affiliates at 14,780.
