The Committee of Industry, Labor, Commerce and Tourism of the Regional Assembly has unanimously approved a Citizens' initiative to declare the Torre Pacheco Festivities of Regional Tourist Interest.

Miguel Sanchez, regional spokesperson for Citizens, has expressed his satisfaction at the approval of this initiative "because the Fiestas Patronales of Torre Pacheco deserve recognition for their history, popularity and projection."

Sánchez recalled that the parish dedicated to the Virgin of the Rosary is more than 400 years old, and that, in particular, the Festivities "are a centennial celebration that from its origin has had a great acceptance, as much by the pachequeros, as by the Neighbors of other populations that are geographically close, and whose neighbors were traveling to Torre Pacheco to enjoy the programmed festivities.

In this sense, Sánchez has influenced "the growth of festivities that, over the years, has incorporated numerous playful and cultural acts, such as the creation of the parade of floats with paperwork that has been documented since 1929, and that With the passage of the years it has become its great referent ".

The spokesman of Cs has also referred to the increase in popularity of parties since the 80s, with the creation of clubs, which have developed a great work that has enhanced the festivities, "since in addition to participating in the Parade of the floats, have also organized a series of acts that have had a great acceptance as the rope throw or the melon launch championship, and even their work motivated the birth of an act in which the historical identity of the Municipality: the festivals of Trinitarians and Berberiscos ".

Last October the City of Torre Pacheco approved an initiative of the Municipal Group of Citizens to carry out the necessary steps so that the Patron Saint Festivities of the Virgin of the Rosary were declared of Regional Tourist Interest.

"We have now given it a boost from the Regional Assembly and we hope that the statement will become reality as soon as possible," Sánchez concluded.
