The IV Route of the Sentinels will pass by Torre-Pacheco on September 22 (14/09/2017)

The Mayor of Torre-Pacheco, Antonio León, the Councilor for Sports, Raúl Lledó, the president of SODICAR, Mª Dolores García, and the athlete, Javier Nieto, presented this non-competitive race, organized by SODICAR with the motto "No I run alone ... I run with diabetes! Open your eyes ... if I can too! "

This race of ultra-fund, whose route will be 98 kilometers in this fourth edition, aims to raise awareness about diabetes as well as encourage people who suffer from sports.

The march, which will start at 3:00 p.m. on September 22 from Torrevieja, expects to reach the Punic Wall of Cartagena in 14 hours and about 17:30 hours, runs through the main Iberian and Phoenician settlements on the coast of southeast of Spain to recreate the possible route followed by the sentinels who would once see arrive at the army led by Publio Cornelio Scipio 'El Africano' to warn that it was heading for Qart Hadast, passing through the salt flats, the mouth of the Segura river , the settlements of La Fonteta, Cabezo del Tinio or Cerro Lucero and following Via Heraklea and Via Augusta.

The IV Route of the Sentinels will also cross the towns of Torrevieja, Guardamar del Segura, Rojales, Benijófar, Los Montesinos, San Miguel de Salinas, Orihuela, Pilar de la Horadada, San Pedro del Pinatar, San Javier, Torre Pacheco and Cartagena.

When it is a non-competitive test, all those who want to participate can do so from the kilometer point they want and accompany the 'sentinel' on the march during the time and distance they deem appropriate.

To register, you only have to buy a Zero Diabetes T-shirt, at the cost of 5 euros, by calling the telephone number 968 52 90 14. You can also collaborate by 'buying' or sponsoring kilometers and towers or landmarks;

in the first case can be done for 10 euros, and in the second for 200 euros.

The funds raised will go to the organization of a seminar on diabetes and sport and also the Diabetes Zero movement, which is fighting for research to find a cure for this disease.

This year's 'sentinel' is Javier Nieto, a Cartagena-based Torrevieja who has had diabetes for 16 years;

He will be in charge of traveling the 98 kilometers.
