The Windmills Association of Torre-Pacheco, will celebrate on Sunday September 24 its traditional pilgrimage, opening the day with the appointment of Miller of Honor
The Association of Windmills will carry out its traditional pilgrimage in honor of San Miguel Arcángel, patron of the millers.
The presentation was chaired by the Councilor for Tourism, Rosalía Rosique, who was accompanied by the current president of the Association, Manuel Mateo, and its founder, Antonio Pagán.
The events will begin with a concentration and visit of the pilgrims to the Church Our Lady of the Rosary, at 9 am and then will be made the appointment of Romero de Honor 2017, whose title has fallen to José Miguel Luengo, mayor of San Javier, a person committed to the value of the mills, according to Mateo.
Likewise, Mateo, has informed about the activities that will be carried out the next day of the Pilgrimage.
From the Church the attendants with the image of San Miguel will go to the Mill of "El Tío Facorro", where there will be a concentration of carriages and horses, and gastronomic tastings.
After this rest, the pilgrims will continue towards the Mill of El Pasico, where it will be launched;
then visit the mills of Hortichuela, the Hermitage of the Cachimanes, the mill of the Campanero, and the mill of Lo Ferro, ending the pilgrimage in the square of the church of Roldan, with a meal of brotherhood.
In addition, Mateo has invited to the participation in this day, that pretends to put in value the wealth that we have in the municipality with our mills.
For his part, Rosique recalled that in the municipality of Torre-Pacheco we have several windmills being of two types: flour or cereal and water or arcaduces, artistic monuments of the cultural heritage of our area, image of our municipality and identity signal of our environment.
