The Councilor for Citizen Security, Juan Salvador Sánchez Saura, has transferred to the unions a proposal of an agreement of working hours and schedule to increase the number of patrols per shift, guaranteeing the minimum services and the completion of the working day, established in 37 hours and a half a week for all officials.
Sánchez said that the last agreement between the former government team and the unions, by which agents could enjoy reductions in working hours for double shifts in 16-hour workdays, have proved to be ineffective and imply not only a decrease in quality of service, but also is far from what is indicated by the labor legislation in the state and European level, which recommends that the maximum day is 12 hours.
Councilor proposes a new schedule of work shifts, consisting of six days of work and four days of rest, compared to the current three work and three rest, which forces the agents to take double shifts to complete their annual computation of hours worked .
With the new system, there could be a better distribution and police presence on the streets of the municipality, guaranteeing a minimum number of troops per shift, and addressing the problem of short-term casualties in the collective, caused by the realization of 16 hour shifts, with only 8 rest between shifts.
The Councilor's proposal has been informed positively by the legal services of the Consistory, and will be raised to the next General Negotiating Table.
The Councilor for Security has been open to negotiation and dialogue, under the essential premise that "the members of the Corporation owe to the citizens of Torre Pacheco and each of its districts, which at this time demand and demand greater security and an effective system of work that results in the benefit of all. "
As for the requirement of payment of overtime debt for 2011 and 2012, the legal and economic services of the City Council already reported in the negative in 2015, as expressed in these reports, it is not clear that the services would be made outside the ordinary day, that is, that the annual count of hours would have been exceeded.
However, the Councilman has noted his surprise at the demand 6 years later and in front of a different government team, when the ruling party in those years was the Popular Party, a government against which they made no protest or concentration to claim those amounts .
Nevertheless, the Councilman wanted to express his absolute respect for the right of demonstration and protest of the unions, although delegates were already transferred to the negative opinions of municipal services to pay those hours could go to court to demand them, and that it is a judge who determines if the previous government team made that order of hours in accordance with the regulations and with guarantees of payment to the agents.
