The Mayor of Torre-Pacheco, Antonio Leon, accompanied by the widow of the honoree, Josefa Ramirez, neighbors, relatives and friends presided over an intimate and emotional act, in which a plaza was named in the neighborhood of Los Albaladejos.
Ángel Castaño, worked as a local policeman, accustomed to regulate daily traffic and supervise the weekly market, distributing notifications on his small motorcycle through all the districts of the municipality, is remembered by the neighbors as "the guard of the smile".
"Torre-Pacheco brings back that memory, that affection and his dedication", said Leon in his speech with "this small tribute and with this humble gesture, that one of the gardens of Torre-Pacheco, has its name", as well as decided the Plenum of the City.
After a sickness, his death was very felt by relatives, neighbors, and companions of the City Council, causing sadness, not only for his veteran and excellent service as a policeman, but for his affectionate, willful and good nature.
Daniel Rosique, grandson of the honoree, dedicated a few words in memory of his grandfather, thanked on behalf of the family to the City of Torre-Pacheco to put the name to this plaza of D. Angel Castaño Martinez, posthumously for his dedication to the people .
