Yesterday morning, the Mayor of Torre-Pacheco, Antonio León, accompanied by the Councilor for Social Services and Equality, Verónica Martínez, and the Coordinator of Social Services, Mª José Moreno, received the President of the Friendship and Solidarity Association Mar Menor and the Saharawi delegate in the Region, Fatma Mohamed Salem.
The Saharawi representatives presented a program of proposals for activities for the year 2018, and they also requested the collaboration of the City Council in the different activities that the organization carries out.
In addition, this meeting has served as an institutional contact between the Saharawi delegate, who arrived in the region this past summer, and the City Council of Torre-Pacheco.
The Association of Friendship and Solidarity with the Saharawi People "Mar Menor" is a Democratic Non-Governmental Organization for Development Cooperation that works with the Saharawi population in the refugee camps of Tindouf, Algeria since 1997. Since its creation, the association , has carried out different projects, among which is "Holidays in Peace."
Project with which the Municipality of Torre-Pacheco, has collaborated, and through which, last summer 5 children enjoyed a summer stay in our municipality.
