The motions also require measures to guarantee the continuity of the Tajo-Segura Transfer, as well as the disapproval of the General Director of Water, Liana Sandra Ardiles, and the President of the Segura Hydrographic Confederation, Miguel Ángel Ródenas, for the persecution to which It has been submitted to farmers and their negative repercussions on the economy of a strategic sector for the municipality.
Both motions had the support of 20 of 21 councilors of the Municipal Corporation, with the favorable vote of the groups of the Independent Party and the Socialist Party - in the government -, Popular Party and Citizens, and with the abstention of the Ganar Torre Pacheco Group ( United Left).
The City Council thus joins the demands of the agricultural associations and the irrigators, who have been demanding for some time effective solutions for the sector, and a greater involvement of the administrations in the active search for measures to alleviate the emergency situation that crosses the field in the Campo de Cartagena region.
The Mayor of Torre Pacheco, Antonio Leon, thanked the groups that have joined both proposals, and has bet that "all Pachequeros we united together, regardless of political colors, supporting the work of our field and the agricultural sector, which it is a key piece of Torre Pacheco's economic and social development "
